Say no to thirsty skin!

We all know that a healthy and balanced diet with regular exercise is key in having great skin, but truth be told sometimes we’re so busy and especially with the holidays (food overdose) we haven’t really had the chance to hit the gym or keep a proper skin care regimen. Our skin is looking dry, dull and just missing that radiant glow which we all love. The following mask is super easy and is great for both women and men. While having your morning coffee and getting ready to head out into the cold try to apply this super hydrating mask to your skin, in order to give your skin the moisture needed. Say no to thirsty skin! (thirsty skin over produces oil thus leading to breakouts and it also speeds up the aging process)

All you need is a banana and some honey.

As we have explained before, honey is a humectant. It’s super soothing and has antibacterial and antifungal properties. It reduces swelling and really treats wounds and scars.

Bananas are loaded with vitamins and minerals, nourishing our skin and increasing its elasticity. Vitamin A present in bananas restores our moisture, so this is a major plus.

How to make your mask.

Remember you will apply this mask to clean skin. All you need to do is mash a banana and mix it with honey.

Apply on your skin and let it sit for 15 minutes then rinse off with warm water. Follow with your favorite moisturizer and your set!

This mask is great for both women and men and is one of those winter pampering treatments which benefits all skin types from normal to acne prone skin.


Soothing Scrub!


We just came back from the market and picked up some our favorite eats, yep oatmeal. It’s super cold out, so when we want a quick and hearty snack we turn to this all time classic; but while making one of our faves, we can actually make an amazing exfoliating and nourishing facial scrub.

When we think about scrubbing our skin, it actually sounds super harsh, but oatmeal is very  soothing, delicate and beyond amazing.

Oatmeal is packed with vitamins, antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties. Basically it will exfoliate away the dead skin that lays on our skin (which makes us look dull and which can clog our pores leading to major breakouts). Besides removing dead skin, Oatmeal is soothing,moisturizing and healing.

The next ingredient we will use is regular whole milk (the fat in milk will replenish, brighten and give us the moisture needed during these cold months) Milk has tons of vitamins and minerals, as well as lactic acid. Lactic acid is amazing for the texture of our skin. It will acts as an exfoliator but it will give thirsty skin the hydration needed. Remember thirsty skin leads to wrinkles and even breakouts ( the body will over produce oil), so milk is a major +.

The Oatmeal and milk scrub is super easy. Basically take a cup of warm milk, warm it up (not too hot) and stir some oatmeal in it. Make sure you bring both together and stir stir stir. After approximately 3 minutes you should have a paste ( oh we forgot when choosing the oats we usually go for the smaller ones because large oats will just fall off when placed on our skin)

Wash your face…then apply in a circular motion your new scrub. Gently massage (allowing both the oatmeal and milk to sink into your pores). Leave it on for 5 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Pat dry and apply your favorite moisturizer.

Winter Dilemmas…Puffiness and Dullness!

It’s officially winter and somehow due to our crazy schedule and lack of sleep we’re looking puffy and dull. Besides the lack of radiance, our skin has been breaking out.

Time to incorporate a toner, that will balance our  skin’s pH level  as well as treat both acne and puffiness.

The following toner is amazing for both women and men who suffer from acne, blemishes and puffiness.

Keep in mind toners are great for detoxifying our skin, preventing breakouts, diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as  brightening and smoothing our complexion.

Time to get our hands on some carrots.

Carrots are packed with minerals and vitamins.

The Potassium and Vitamin A found in carrots will diminish puffiness and provide our skin with the hydration needed for these next couple of cold months. The vitamins present in this powerful and nourishing toner will also tone our skin, improving our complexion.

Carrots also have beta-carotenoids which will protect us from sun damage as well acts as an anti-aging agent (improving the amount of collagen in our body which  increases elasticity…firmer skin)

How to Make our Carrot Toner.

Beyond simple, all you need is a small bottle. Fill the bottle with half water (bottled) and half Carrot Juice( ideally you should always take a fresh and healthy approach …so it’s best to make your own…but if you can’t…select then organic/pure carrot juice)

Shake the bottle, and apply with a cotton ball over clean skin. Let it dry and continue with your regular skincare routine. You can store this toner up to 4 to 5 days in the fridge.

We’re going bananas for a Brighter Smile

OK guys, so we all hate stained teeth. Whether from smoking ( guilty pleasures and we should all stop) or coffee and tea, our teeth get stained. We all want pearly white teeth. Recently we came across an article about how we can brighten our teeth with bananas peels. Obviously we live for easy and affordable methods of making ourselves look better (let’s all be honest we love saving some cash)

We did a little research this weekend and found out that bananas besides high levels of potassium, contain tons of magnesium, manganese as well calcium and vitamin D. These minerals  will be absorbed into our teeth, thus brightening and clearing up our smiles. Obviously you won’t see a dramatic result over night, but after a week you will start seeing a slight difference. Gradually you will start to see a change.

Simply take a ripe banana, take off the peel and rub it on your teeth until they are basically coated with these rich minerals. Leave the brightening nutrients do their magic for about 10 min to 15 min ( you might want to keep your lips in an awkward position x that time…keeping them away from your teeth)

After ten/fifteen  minutes, grab your toothbrush, make sure it’s dry (without paste) and brush the peel off. Rinse with water and your set. Within a couple of weeks you will begin to notice a brighter, pearlier smile.

Also try to take care of nature, since nature definitely takes care of us. Take the peel, grind it  and toss it over the soil. Banana peels make an amazing compost for plants.
